Over 20 key stakeholders attended Peninsular Transport’s first Transport Forum.
Representatives of the major business organisations and transport providers attending included: Bristol Airport, Plymouth CityBus, Tamar Bridge, Great Western, Cross Country, South Western Railway, National Express, Sustrans, Transport Focus, CBI and FSB amongst others.
The Transport Forum was hosted by Peninsula Transport’s Vice Chair Cllr Andrea Davis at County Hall in Exeter.
Attendees heard presentations on the successes achieved by collaborative working on rail issues via the Peninsula Rail Task Force and the proposed Major Road Network (MRN) and Large Local (LLM) schemes which are currently being assessed before being formally adopted by the Peninsula Transport Board.
The participants also worked together to give their views on the major economic and transport challenges facing the Peninsula Transport area.
Richard Stevens of Plymouth City Bus was appointed as Peninsula Transport’s Transport Forum chair and Andrew Ardley from South Western Railway as vice-chair.
It was also agreed that the annual meeting of wider transport users including town, parish and districts will be held on 5 September.
